Frostline

Troops & Formations

Infantry stand in front, Lancers in the middle, Marksmen in the back.

TL;DR Infantry beats Lancers, Lancers beat Marksmen, Marksmen beat Infantry. A 50/20/30 mix is the usual PvP starting point; adjust for the event.

Counter triangle

Infantry beats Lancer
Lancer beats Marksman
Marksman beats Infantry

Infantry soak damage up front so Marksmen in the back can deal most of the damage.

SituationRatioWhy
PvP / attack rallies50 / 20 / 30A common starting point. Adjust from battle reports.
Bear Hunt30/30/40 → 10/10/80More Marksmen as your hero generation rises. The bear isn’t a player march, so no defensive formation is needed.
Garrison defense50%+ InfantryStart above half Infantry, then tune for your heroes and the enemy.
Crazy Joe defenseInfantry first, Lancers secondMarksmen add little in this event.
Attacking a heavy-Inf garrisonMore MarksmanCounter their infantry

Training & losses

  • Promote existing troops to a higher tier instead of training from scratch when you’re short on time.
  • Train troops on event days that score training (Hall of Chiefs, SvS prep).
  • Watch Infirmary capacity. Wounded troops beyond it can be lost (some guides say part of them go to the Enlistment Office instead).
  • Don’t gather with your main troops during war windows: tiles get hit.
